After ore than eight years after its launch, the Google mail service, Gmail, has become the most used in the world, surpassing-finally-rivals Outlook (formerly Hotmail) and Yahoo!.
According to ComScore figures collected in October and published in gigaom.com, Gmail had 287.9 million users, while Outlook, the Microsoft Mail service, was 286,200,000. Yahoo! ranks third with 281.7 million.
The situation is different in America, where Yahoo wins and is followed closely by Gmail, while Outlook is third.
However, the Microsoft platform formerly Hotmail, expected rebound here after its relaunch made in August, which has reported some growth in numbers.
