Are you an Apple user, but have plans to sell your iPhone due to lagging problems and an outdated interface? Well, now you don’t have to: Apple recently announced their new iOS 12, which was designed to be the fastest and most responsive operating system yet.

Last June 4, 2018, at Apple’s annual WWDC Developers Conference, Apple unveiled the features of iOS 12. The new operating system will allow users to make personalized emojis, FaceTime with 32 people, cut down on phone usage, and best of all, enjoy a faster and more reliable iPhone.

Here, we’ll break down the latest updates in iOS 12 and what this means for iPhone users:

  • Enjoy a faster iPhone

Normal tasks such as launching apps will be 40% faster, opening your camera will be up to 70% faster, and the suggestive text on your keyboard will appear 50% faster than before.

This upgrade will be especially useful for those who use older iPhone models, such as the iPhone 5s.

  • Design a Memoji to look just like you

Apple’s 3D technology is also getting an upgrade with the iOS 12.

Those who upgrade will be enjoying a brand-new feature called Memojis. They’re similar to Animojis, except Memojis are able to capture more personalized expressions and features to create an emoji that really looks like you!

Unfortunately, while Memojis can be received on any Apple device, they can only be created with an iPhone X running on iOS 12.

  • FaceTime with your entire community

For those who are fond of group calling with plenty of people, you can now FaceTime with up to 32 people.

To help identify who’s talking, whenever a contact speaks, their image grows larger on your screen.

Anyone can join at any time and even listen in through FaceTime audio using an Apple Watch.

  • Welcome to your newly organized Photo Library

With iOS 12, the Photo Library will come with improved search suggestions that will help you find the right photos right away. You can now combine more than one search term to help you find what you’re looking for.

It will also be easier to send pictures as iOS 12 comes with new sharing suggestions. Your phone will detect contacts who appear in your photos and send notifications to these friends to send back photos.

  • Protect your privacy

Given the recent controversy surrounding data privacy on the Internet, Apple is installing a feature that warns users when a Facebook plug-in is trying to gain access to their information.

  • Cut down on your phone usage

Apple has also decided to introduce a new feature named Screen Time, which will send you daily reports on how much time you spend on specific apps or how many times your device is picked up within the day. You can also use the feature to limit the time you spend using an app.

This is in line with Apple’s advocacy of “digital health” and promoting healthy usage of mobile devices in this digital age.

With all these brand-new features, will you be upgrading your Apple device? Stay tuned for the iOS 12 release date, which is supposedly in September or even as soon as late June.
