Yes, there’s a new iPhone coming this year. That’s hardly surprising, knowing that it’s the 10th year anniversary of the iPhone. To celebrate this feat, expect the iPhone 8 (or whatever it’s going to be called) to be the most awesome iPhone you’ve ever seen.
Just like any other iPhone release, a few rumors have been going around about how this new unit is going to look like, and what it’s going to have under the hood. Here are some of the exciting things we should be expecting from the iPhone 8 pegged to come this September.
From the Outside
Just like the past release, we’re expecting 3 different iPhones to come out. One of the three will definitely have an OLED display, something that’s been rumored since last year.
As for the style, there are 2 theories at the moment. First theory states that the iPhone 8 will have a flexible curved display, just like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. 2nd theory is that it will be closer to the iPhone 7, with an edge-to-edge display.
The home button will definitely be no more, and a Touch ID fingerprint scanner will directly be installed on the display. Looks like the usual aluminum body will say goodbye as well, with the new iPhone having an entirely glass body. To maintain the sleek appearance, the light sensors, camera and mic would probably be placed under the display.
To the Inside
The outside is interesting enough, but what do we expect on the inside? Well, here’s one clue – wireless charging. Yup, looks like this will finally be reality with the new iPhone, although it isn’t clear yet whether Apple will be developing their own charging system, or will collaborate with someone else to do it for them.
As for the rest of the inside, this promises to be one satisfying piece of gadget. The A11 processor promises faster performance, and Apple is continuing to develop their biometric system, which means that this iPhone could be the perfect unit to test it out. Iris scanning seems to be one of the upgrades here. The Taptic Engine also promises better complex tactile vibrations.
The cameras are still dual. Last year, optical image stabilization was only offered on one of the cameras. This year, however, it is rumored that it will work on both lenses.
Of course, these are mostly just rumors. Don’t be surprised if you hear other news that would oppose the rumors mentioned here. Apparently, Apple is working on at least 10 different prototypes, so all these rumors could be a mix of all those.
For now, start saving up. According to experts that sell iPhones, this is going to be one of the best releases Apple has ever made. Sure, the price tag is going to be jaw-dropping. But haven’t we gotten used to that with previous iPhones? The important thing is to get ready for what’s coming. This definitely won’t be a disappointment, so the least thing you want to happen is for you to have no budget for it when it finally comes.
