If there’s one thing that a lot of people have noticed about Apple products, it’s the fact that this giant tech manufacturer has taken quite a dislike for wires and cables. Even experts that sell electronics admit that this is one of the most popular reasons why a lot of people prefer Apple devices. Somehow, they have managed to make almost everything wireless. One great proof of this is AirPlay.
What is AirPlay?
AirPlay proves to be useful for Apple enthusiasts, simply because it allows you to stream any kind of content or media from one iOS device to another. This is perfect for those who have a number of different devices that all run on iOS. Now, you can use your iPod, iPad, iPhone or Mac to play any movie or song on your TV, or view some pictures the same way.
Of course, you’re going to need Apple TV for this to work on your television set. But this same feature can also be used on speakers and receivers that are compatible with the function and your device.
What You Need to Know
The AirPlay is awesome, but it’s definitely not perfect. There are a few things that you need to know that could change the way you feel about the feature. Here are some of them:
- The number of apps that support AirPlay is limited, but growing.
At the moment, you can only see a small number of apps that can be used with AirPlay. The good news is, the list continues to grow longer as new apps that can be used with AirPlay are starting to appear in the App Store. Regularly check on new AirPlay-optimized apps online to stay ahead.
- It works over your Wi-Fi network.
Unlike other similar tech, AirPlay works over a Wi-Fi network and not over Bluetooth. This means that it is more secure than anything that works over a Bluetooth connection. The only problem here is that the efficiency of the apps you will be using with AirPlay will also be dependent on your connection. So if your Wi-Fi connection sucks, then you can’t expect AirPlay to work seamlessly.
- You need the latest software and firmware to ensure smooth sailing.
Of course, as with anything else, the latest versions would be the best match for this feature. If you have an older iPhone for example, or an older iOS version, then you should expect as early as now that AirPlay will not give you the same satisfying experience as someone who has the lates iPhone and the newest iOS release.
AirPlay has a lot of great potential, that much can be said without a doubt. It has also been around for quite a few years, so expect that the people behind it are quick to give solutions to any possible problems you may encounter while using it. So just try it out and enjoy the ride. It’s better to have tried using it and experiencing the great things you can do with it, than just ignore it and let its potential go to waste.
