Everyone remembers how controversial the launch of Tidal was, with big names in the music industry coming out to support what it aims to do which is to give artists a fairer share of their hard work. Since then, Tidal has held exclusive rights to a lot of bestselling albums, something that remains to be its biggest edge over other music-streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music. It is not surprising therefore, for these services to want what Tidal has. And now, based on rumors floating around, it seems that Apple has taken the initiative to see if they can acquire the brand. We asked experts that sell electronics about it, and heres what we know so far.

Rumors of Acquisition

Reports say that Apple and Jay-Z has been talking about the possible acquisition of Tidal, although the music icon has since denied these rumors.

Tidal was launched in 2014, and is known not only for their high-fidelity audio quality, but for their exclusive rights to a lot of high profile albums. Taylor Swift, for instance, has always been against Spotify, and has given Tidal exclusive rights to all her music. Other Tidal exclusives include Rihannas Bitch Better Have My Money, Daft Punks film Electroma, as well as playlists by Coldplay, Beyonce, and Kanye West.

Seeing all the big names on this exclusive list, you cant blame Apple for wanting what they have. Its also a great way to have something that Spotify does not have either, something that could strengthen their game especially in the middle of a controversial issue against the popular music-streaming service.

Another Move Against Spotify?

Apple has been in a strong battle against Spotify in the past couple of weeks, with the latter accusing the former of manipulating their App Store guidelines to block Spotifys latest updates. Because of this issue, people are starting to think that the rumored acquisition is Apples way of spiting Spotify, a move to gain something that Spotify will assumedly never have.

If the rumors prove to be true, Apple will definitely have a huge edge over Spotify. This could be Apples final retaliation for Spotifys loud accusations, something that could seriously tilt the playing field in Apples favor.

Tidal Denies Rumors

With Tidal executives denying all the rumors, one would wonder where all the noise is coming from. Because of their denial, people are only geared to think two ways either there really is something going on behind the scenes and both parties are not ready to divulge solid information just yet, or there never was an initiative for acquisition and the whole thing was just used to add fuel to the fire in Apples fight against Spotify.

Regardless of how all this turns out, it will still be the peoples choice. Each music-streaming service Apple Music, Spotify and Tidal has something different to offer. It will always be about which player gets to provide what users need, and which of them can give their consumers the best listening experience possible.
