Google Drive is an excellent tool if you need free (or inexpensive) online storage space. It syncs smoothly with Googles own package of products, along with numerous third-party services.
New Updates
If you’ve used Google products and apps most of your digital life, you will enjoy Google Drives small yet effective new updates. The search engine giant has made it much easier to add data to your Drive and sort them out directly into folders. This organization process can be practical if you have a huge number of files and require a fast technique to go through them.
One of the most beneficial updates is the option to drag and drop documents into directories straight from a search engine. This helps it to be easier to move data regardless of where they are stored – in your My Drive or other files you created within the Google Drive.
The other two improvements concentrate on offering a quicker method of adding content to My Drive. When previewing documents, you’ll find a new button that enables you to save that file or photo directly to My Drive. And, if youre already going through files in My Drive, a Move icon will pop in the toolbar so you can transfer data to various folders straight away. It omits the step of having to tap the menu option to access the Move preference.
You will also see an Add to My Drive symbol in the toolbar rather than the Move icon if youre browsing through documents shared with you on Google Drive.
Three Top Updates
Based on experts who sell laptops and computers, here are three of Google Drives best
features.
1. Voice Typing
Google’s been refining voice recognition for some time now and it’s applying the new features to work with voice typing found in Google Docs. At this point, you can dictate content instead of typing it in. This feature contains built-in help support for 40 languages.
To use this feature:
- Launch any document from Google Docs in the Chrome browser.
- Go to “Tools.”
- Choose “Voice Typing.”
- Click the microphone and speak. Google will transcribe what you say, which includes punctuation marks.
Just note that Google will censor swear words or profanity.
2. Research from Google Docs
Within the Google Drive Android app, you’ll find the new “Research” tool for Docs that enables you to search Google without exiting your document. This can be used to search and read information, copy and paste text from the internet into your document, and insert images or links straight from Google. The Research feature has been available on Google Drive’s website for some time now, however, this is the first time it’s available as an Android app.
3. Explore in Sheets
“Sheets” is a new feature added into Google’s spreadsheet tool. It automatically creates several unique charts and graphs for you. This allows you to input details into your data, with virtually no work on your part. Furthermore, the charts are updated automatically as you modify your variables. You may also highlight certain areas to create quick charts out of that specific data.
Google Drive has a slew of helpful features for both students and employees. When used correctly, its an economic productivity tool that can bring great results.
