The Taiwanese multinational tech company Acer is among the most popular laptop manufacturers in the US and around the globe. Acer laptops are known for being reliable and reasonably priced. Moreover, the manufacturer offers an enormous selection of computer hardware for every taste and budget.

But when you ask Acer notebook owners if those are good, their opinions will differ. Some will tell you that the brand is good because it is reliable and offers satisfactory performance. Others might say to you their laptops are slow and lacking power.

But one thing is true: from mid-range to premium laptops, every student, gamer, creative, or business professional can find a device that fits their needs at Acer.

So, are Acer laptops good? Let’s find out.

How Good are Acer Laptops?

If you ask us if an Acer laptop is good, we will have some follow-up questions, of course, but the short answer is “yes”. Why? First, the brand has made a name for itself for being affordable. For example, you’ll find budget-friendly home-use Acer laptops and even gaming rigs with enough power for a reasonable price.

But Acer does not stop there. Today, it pushes the boundaries with new laptop lineups, focusing on gaming hardware. Just take a look at its Predator series laptops. Those are some gaming monsters capable of running AAA games smoothly thanks to top-of-the-line components.

So, let’s sum it up:

Acer Laptop Pros

  • Good value to price ratio.
  • Wide range of lines, from home use to gaming and mobile workstations.
  • Frequent updates and implementing innovative technologies.
  • Reliable customer and tech support.

Acer Laptop Cons

  • An extended warranty is expensive.
  • The low-cost laptop models don’t hold up well over time and must be repaired or replaced more frequently.
  • Lower resale value.

Best Acer Laptops

Here are some of our favorite Acer laptops available on the market today.

Acer ConceptD 7

The ConceptD 7 is a great and very capable mobile workstation for creatives. In a way, this Acer model responds to Apple Mac, which has dominated the equipment market for digital artists. And while Acer has not updated its ConceptD7 lineup yet, and we do not know if they are planning on doing so, this computer is still one of the best ones you can buy to handle power-hungry programs on the go.

This Acer model is durable, lightweight, stain-resistant, and has plenty of I/O ports. It can easily replace a PC tower. The only downside is the price: be prepared to spend thousands of dollars on your Acer ConceptD 7 laptop. So if you look to save a little bit of money, we’d recommend looking for a used one instead.

Acer Swift 7

The Acer Swift 7 is one of the thinnest and ultra-portable notebooks on the market. Weighing only about two pounds, it is comparable to a MacBook Air.

Swift 7 offers a user-oriented design, with plenty of connectivity ports and Thunderbolt 3 support. In addition, its 14-inch touchscreen display is nearly edgeless with a 92% screen-to-body ratio. And to top it all, the battery will easily last all day on a single charge, making it a perfect business laptop.

Acer Predator Helios 300 (2021)

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a mid-range moderately priced gaming laptop with plenty to offer. Several configurations to choose from, a decently-sized 15.6-inch display with up to 240Hz refresh rates, and a lightweight design are just a few of the Predator Helios 300 perks. And thanks to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series graphics, you can easily play esports. But what we love about this lineup the most is how easy Acer makes to overclock it: literally by pressing a button.

Used Acer Resale Value

In this climate, we also need to ask another question: Are Acer laptops good regarding their resale value? Truly, recommerce is thriving right now, allowing tech users to recycle their older gadgets and make a little money in the process.

Naturally, some brands, like Apple, will hold up better over time than others. And considering that Acer laptops are low-cost, they depreciate at a faster rate, with the exception of certain gaming models. So if you are debating whether to repair or resell your broken Acer, we say sell it now, before it becomes worthless.

Bottom Line

Most Acer laptop owners will tell you that Acer is good because it is affordable. But buying a cheaper laptop also has its downsides. For example, you may not be able to resell it when it is time to upgrade. That is not to say that Acer does not have some premium lines on its website. You can find some high-end business laptops, workstations, and gaming computers, yet, Acer strives to keep its tech reasonably priced.
