Best and Worst Asus Laptops

Asus has produced many popular and well-regarded laptops over the years. However, even as technology evolves, certain older Asus models remain relevant and sought-after even today, in 2023.

In this post, we will focus on some of the best and worst Asus notebooks on the market.

Best Asus Laptops

Here are some of the user favorites:

1. Asus ZenBook 14 Series

This model has been re-released several times over the years and offers a variety of powerful CPUs from both Intel and AMD. Zenbook 14 laptops are ultrathin, lightweight but offer powerful performance, high-resolution displays, and long battery life.

2. Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

Aimed primarily at gamers and content creators, this line combines powerful AMD Ryzen processors with NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics and AMD Radeon RX GPUs. A 14-inch screen makes this computer pretty portable. But because of its hardware, the Zephyrus G14 is suitable for power-demanding tasks and gaming. It also has a compact design and an impressive display.

3. Asus Chromebook Flip C436

As a 2-in-1 convertible laptop, the Chromebook Flip C436 offers versatility with its touchscreen display and 360-degree hinge. It runs on Chrome OS and is well-suited for productivity tasks and casual browsing. Built-in camera, slim design, and easy access to Google Docs and other Chrome apps make it a perfect device for students. It is, however, more expensive than other Chromebooks available on the market today.

4. Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 Series

This 17.3-inch Asus laptop is designed specifically for gamers. It boasts a high refresh rate display, an extremely capable AMD Ryzen 9 processor, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series graphics. It also features a customizable RGB keyboard and offers robust cooling capabilities. As expected, Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 is a little bulkier and heavier, but a gaming laptop is not expected to be carried around much.

5. Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX581

Released in 2019, this Asus model holds excellent value still. UX581 stands out for many reasons. But we must mention its innovative ScreenPad Plus, a secondary touchscreen display above the keyboard. This computer would be ideal for creative professionals who can benefit from the extra screen real estate and powerful internals. 15.6 inches is perfect for a work laptop, and a 4K OLED screen image is crisp and clear. The only downside we can point out is a high price tag. Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 is much more expensive than a conventional notebook of comparable specifications. And the clever secondary-screen feature will benefit limited audiences.

Worst Asus Laptops

While Asus has produced many excellent computers, there have also been a few models that have received less favorable reviews or faced some criticism.

Here are a few Asus laptops users regarded as especially unimpressive:

ASUS X540

This budget-friendly notebook has been criticized for its subpar build quality, limited performance, and low-resolution HD display. X540 struggles even as a casual-use computer. Swapping its hard drive storage for an SSD drive can improve things but only to a degree.

ASUS VivoBook E203NA

Although it is a very affordable option, the VivoBook E203NA has very basic low-configuration hardware, like an underwhelming Celeron chip, and only 64GB of eMMC storage. As a result, it runs quite slow. And more than the 11.6-inch display is needed to use this notebook for even the simplest work-related tasks. Furthermore, image quality could be better, and the keyboard is uncomfortable to type.

Asus TUF Gaming FX505

While Asus’s TUF Gaming series is generally well-regarded, the FX505 has faced some criticism for its average display quality, mediocre battery life, and cooling system that may struggle to keep the system adequately cooled during intensive gaming sessions. As a result, a used Asus TUF Gaming FX505 model has a significantly lower resale value than other Asus computers from the TUF line.

Best and Worst Asus Laptops: TLTR

Generally, you probably want to skip budget versions when shopping for Asus laptops. If you need a cheap computer, consider buying Dell, Acer, or HP instead. However, higher-end Zenbooks and ROG Zephyrus models are highly regarded among consumers.

In Conclusion

It’s important to note that the laptop market is constantly evolving, and Asus continuously addresses the shortcomings of its models or releases newer versions with improved features. Either way, we always recommend researching and reading reviews of specific models before making a purchase decision. Be sure to compare specifications, features, and prices to find the Asus laptop that best suits your needs and budget.
