Earlier in 2021, HP introduced a refreshed version of their Envy x360 15-inch convertible laptop line. And we have to say that the good has gotten better. A lot better, in fact. The most recent HP Envy x360 15-inch comes with the latest Tiger Lake Intel processors. Plus, it has gotten a Ryzen 5000-U Lucienne configuration for AMD lovers. Some of the slight but notable improvements discussed below, among other things, are a couple of tweaks in the chassis design and a more prominent display.
HP Envy x360 15 Configurations
The 2021 HP Envy x360 15 edition comes in quite a few configurations, ranging from AMD to Intel processors, multiple screen type options, RAM, and storage. As you can imagine, the combinations are endless and can fit different budgets.
HP Envy x360 15 with Intel Tiger Lake
These models come with Core i5-1135G7 and Core i7-1165G7 processors. Some units are pre-configured, while others can be customized during purchase. RAM options range between 8GB and 16GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM. As for storage, you can choose anywhere between 256GB to 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD drive sizes.
All models support Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and exclusive Intel AI noise removal and Smart Sense Thermal Management software.
AMD Ryzen Lucienne
It looks like HP listened to user’s feedbacks this year and decided to diversify the line with AMD Ryzen processors. A great addition to the Envy x360 laptops, we must say. You get your AMD Ryzen 5 5500U and Ryzen 7 5700U processors, a maximum of 16GB RAM, and up to 512GB SSD storage.
Unfortunately, AMD-based Envy x360 models do not come with 4K screens.
HP Envy x360 15 Design
As we all know, Envy x360 models historically are well-crafted and thoughtfully designed. Like previous year’s models, the 2021 version is made with sturdy aluminum chassis, which also features an even more vivid edge-to-edge display.
HP offers the following color options for their 2021 Envy x360 15 line: Dark Gray, Silver, and Pale Gold.
Laptops from this line are pretty light and portable for 15.6-inch models, weighing about 4.11 pounds. Still, the device is a bit too heavy for the tablet mode.
HP Envy x360 15 Display Options
The Envy x360 15-inch is a convertible laptop-to-tablet device.
Base models come with 15.6-inch FHD IPS touchscreen display panels, either 250 or 400 nits. But you can also pay extra for the 4K UHD AMOLED version, 400 nits, 3840 x 2160 screen resolution. The latter has an excellent NTSC color gamut, SRGB -99%, Adobe RGB-76%, P3-75%, making it a perfect display for designers and digital creators. As of present, 4K configuration is available on Intel-based models only.
Battery Life
HP promises uninterrupted performance due to ultimate battery life: a little over 12 hours of HD video streaming. And they were not far off: in reality, rundown tests give up to 10 hours of use on a single charge. That’s a pretty decent yield for a 15-inch laptop. And with a few power-conserving adjustments, you might even reach the 12-hour mark. 13-inch Envy models, of course, offer a little longer charge.
HP Envy x360 15: Keyboard and Touchpad
The backlit keyboard is very comfortable to use, and it feels great when typing. It has dedicated Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down keys and includes mute, webcam on/off switch, and a fingerprint reader. There is no numeric pad, however.
Also, HP added a dedicated HP Command Center launch key to the 2021 Envy x360 model. Command Center allows you to prioritize favorite apps, optimize network bandwidth, enable the Focus Mode, and regulate system modes. As a result, HP Envy x360 15 can operate in balanced, quiet, or performance modes, depending on your needs and tolerance of cooling fan noise.
Lastly, the touchpad got 19% bigger than the previous versions. It is also better centered. In addition, the surface feels smooth and allows for decent gesture precision.
Used HP Envy x360 Trade-in Value
Since the 2021 HP Envy x360 was just released not so long ago, we cannot imagine you would want to get rid of it already. But if you own any other HP laptop model and want to flip it for cash, we at Gadget Salvation may be able to help. Our team of dedicated professionals works hard to provide a hassle-free online selling experience. And our purchasing database is not limited to HP laptops alone. We also accept smartphones, tablets, All-in-Once PCs and certain towers, gaming consoles, and smartwatches. In addition, our services include valuation, inspection, and shipping costs!
Anyway, here are a few examples of what you can expect to be paid in cash to sell your preowned HP laptop:
- An older HP Envy x360 15 Intel Core i7 8th generation version, fully working and in mint condition, goes for up to 279.*
- Another great model, HP Spectre x360 13 Intel Core i7 10th generation, can be resold for up to $411.*
- And if you are over your 2021 HP Envy x360 15 already, a used Intel Core i7 11th generation one lands up to a $443 cash offer.*
Note that the resale value depends on the brand, model, configurations, and cosmetic condition.
In Conclusion
Just like previously reviewed HP Spectre x360, Envy x360 15 series are fantastic high-end performance laptops. But, of course, the line is not perfect. For one, we think HP could include a stylus pen with their Envy x360 models. We would also very much like to see a discrete graphics option, as the laptop’s size indeed allows for it. Nevertheless, speedy processors, an updated keyboard, and decent battery life certainly make these laptops a great buy!
