The Latitude is a business-oriented laptop line by Dell Technologies, aimed at corporate businesses, government, healthcare, and education.
Latitude laptops are top-rated in the business world and make up a significant chunk of corporate mobile equipment. The line directly competes with the Lenovo ThinkPad business series laptops for the market share. All in all, the Latitude line is highly regarded among users, and there is a reason for that. Those devices are durable, affordable, and come with potent hardware components. Above all, they are loved for excellent battery yield, as we have already established in one of our recent posts, Longest Battery Life Laptops 2021 Edition.
But what are the best Latitude laptops on the market you can buy today? Let’s find out.
Dell Latitude 14 7420 2-in-1
This model can come as a standard laptop and also in 2-in-1 configurations. The convertible model is more expensive, but it is a worthy investment. As a 14-inch model, Latitude 7420 is excellent on the go, so you want that convertible touchscreen feature.
We should also mention that the model comes with the latest 11th generation Intel Core processors (Core i5 and Core i7), up to 32GB RAM onboard memory, and up to 1TB of PCIe NVMe storage.
Latitude 15 5520 Laptop
This one is a classic 15.6-inch work laptop. It sports a very minimalistic look, simple even; there are no bells and whistles, just a regular high-performing business device. Specs and features-wise, it’s an entirely different story. For instance, the 5520 model sports the Dell Optimizer technology. This AI-based software learns how you work, recognize, and record patterns to improve audio and application performance and extend battery life automatically. In a Latitude 5520, you get a fully loaded laptop with LTE capability, a built-in fingerprint reader, plenty of ports, and no lags (thanks to the 11th generation Intel Core i-series processors). Dell currently offers nine 5520 configurations, ranging from Core i3 to Core i7 options. None of the models have a touchscreen display option. However, if you are willing to spend more, consider going for the Dell Precision 5550 workstation instead.
Dell Latitude 7320 Detachable
This one is an ultra-portable laptop designed for busy professionals who get to travel a lot for work. What that is is a Windows 10 Pro-based tablet with a detachable keyboard cover. The device is small and very thin, weighing only 1.7 lb! Yet, its size does not compromise performance in any way.
Once again, this one offers the latest Intel processor options. You get to choose between Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 configurations.
Dell Latitude 3510 Laptop
This one is a little older yet still a very popular 15.6-inch workhorse. The laptop is surprisingly lightweight, just under 4 lbs. It features narrow display bezels, offers excellent battery life, NVIDIA MX230 graphics. The series is powered by the 10th generation Intel Core i5-10210U CPU, one of the models offered online can be configured to a Core i7 processor, however.
Latitude 7410 Chromebook Enterprise
The model gets a lot of use in the educational environment. It is pretty easy to service and maintain. Latitude 7410 offers everything a student might need in the learning process. It comes in seven different configurations; all are Intel Core i5 10th generation CPU based. You can buy a standard laptop or the convertible touchscreen version of the model. This Chromebook is pretty durable for being a lightweight 3.6 lbs notebook, and the battery life is outstanding. We are talking 10+ hours! Yet, there are quite a few mixed reviews about this model though, mainly concerning the price. While the Dell Latitude 7410 is fast and very well made, there are plenty of other cheaper Chromebooks that perform just as well.
All models come with optional Microsoft 365 and McAfee Security software (30-day trial, purchase required).
Carbon Footprint
It is nice to know that Dell is taking steps to halt global warming and has joined the global initiative to address growing e-waste.
The brand championed the usage of the reclaimed carbon fiber in their Latitude and some PC series. The technology allows making laptops even lighter. The 2-in-1 Latitude models now come in packaging trays made from 100% recycled plastic. By Dell’s estimates, this practice prevented close to 60.000 lbs of plastic from being dumped into the ocean.
Used Dell Latitude Resale Value
Dell Latitude laptops hold pretty good resale value, better than the consumer-oriented Inspiron line. For example, the Intel Core i3 8th generation based Dell Latitude 3310 laptop gets up to 175* offer.
A bit newer Dell Latitude 5410 Intel Core i7 based laptop in flawless used condition goes for 380*.
