One of the most popular high-performance laptops has received much-anticipated upgrades.

The MacBook Pro 2020 13 inch features new Magic Keyboard, longer battery life, and more.

Every year, Apple loyalists and PC users alike eagerly wait for the latest version of the Apple laptops to decide whether it’s time to upgrade or finally switch to a Mac computer. In 2020, Apple debuted its newest MacBook Pro with some significant improvements, including enhanced keyboard and extra storage. We highlight the most prominent features in our MacBook Pro 2020 13 inch review below .

MacBook Pro 2020 13 inch Review and Specs :

Design & Configurations

Apple decided to stick to the tried-and-true formula when it comes to design, as its pro notebooks have been looking pretty much the same since 2016 thanks to the highly recognizable aluminum design.

The MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 is available in two configurations:

  • A slightly less expensive version with two USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports and eighth-generation Intel chips
  • A pricier yet more powerful option with four USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports and the 10th-generation Intel chips.

Both computers are visually identical, with key differentiators being connectivity and processing power. If you can’t decide whether the latest 2020 MacBook Air vs MacBook Pro is right for you, read our comparison article to help you decide the suitable device for you.

The Keyboard

By far the most awaited upgrade that comes with the MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 is the new Magic Keyboard, as Apple is phasing out its infamous butterfly keyboard that’s been causing many issues for the users. The new keyboard features a traditional scissor-switch mechanism that delivers a softer, quieter, and stress-free typing experience (no more bread crumbs under the keys!). If you are an avid typist or have to write countless emails on a daily basis, this feature will be a deal-breaker.

The Touch Bar hasn’t been significantly altered, but it didn’t require any changes as it’s already been quite functional and comfortable to use before. This computer also comes with a nice new little feature that can easily go unnoticed: a separate Escape key that was originally a part of the Touch Bar. Small things can make a big difference!

A handy Touch ID button streamlines many activities, from swiftly unlocking the computer to accessing password-protected documents to shopping online with Apple Pay.

Power and Battery Life

Apple promised up to 20 hours of battery life for this edition of MacBook Pro – “the longest in any Mac ever” – and it certainly delivered. Of course, the battery life will depend on what you are using the computer for and it will drain faster in some cases, but the silver lining is that you can quickly charge the device back to 100% (even faster on a more expensive model with more ports).

The base model of the MacBook Pro 13” 2020 also comes with Apple’s own M1 chip designed exclusively for Mac. The tech giant has been making its own chips for iPhones and iPads for a while now, but this is the first time such a chip was used for a MacBook. The small yet mighty chip packs a punch, delivering increased performance, power efficiency, and the ability to run iOS apps.

M1’s 8-core GPU also demonstrates an impressive 5x boost in graphics performance, making the 2020 MacBook Pro 13” an ideal machine for video editing enthusiasts.

Display

The 2020 version of this laptop features the same beautiful Retina display that was used in the earlier MacBook models. This bright and brilliant display comes with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and delivers an unprecedented level of detail and realism.

Every MacBook Pro computer, including the 2020 model, comes equipped with the True Tone technology that changes the color temperature of the display depending on the ambient light in an environment. This machine is certainly easy on the eyes, literally and figuratively.

Other Features

The MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 features 720p FaceTime HD camera, which delivers higher quality visuals thanks to the M1 chip mentioned above. The new image signal processor inside the chip results in better noise reduction, enhanced auto white balance, as well as machine learning face detection, so you can tackle those video calls with confidence.

The camera is perfectly fine for now, though hopefully Apple will introduce cameras with higher resolution in the near future. Also, the laptop supports WiFi 6 (802.11ax.) which brings faster speeds and expanded network capacity. Add to the list Apple’s famous secure configurations that automatically protect your device from potential online threats, and you’re in for a safe and speedy web surfing.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a powerful, efficient, versatile, reliable, and esthetically pleasing computer, look no further. The 2020 MacBook Pro 13” comes with a hefty price tag, but it’s worth the investment as it will last a long time. We hope our MacBook Pro 2020 13 inch review has helped you to decide if it’s worth or not purchasing this model.  If you feel like the new MacBook Pro is the right choice for you, we recommend macbook trade in your current device to partially cover the cost of your new gadget.
