Microsoft develops the most popular and most used OS in the world. It’s now also synonymous with first-class hardware. Not convinced? Just look at the Microsoft Surface Pro 6.

If you ask retail shops that sell tablet units, it won’t be a surprise that in the category of 2-in-1 tablets, Microsoft reigns supreme. There aren’t many good alternatives available of a high-quality tablet that can double as a full-tilt laptop.

And now with the Surface Pro 6’s sleek black design and packed quad-core processor, Microsoft remains untouchable. That being said, is the Pro 6 truly an investment?

Is There Really Any Difference?

The Surface Pro 6 is the newest model of Microsoft’s detachable tablet PC. It has the default 8GB RAM and the improved 8th generation quad-core Intel processors. Apart from these two notable specs, the Surface Pro 6 is basically similar to its predecessor.

In fact, the similarities are uncanny that if you put a Surface Pro 4, a Surface Pro 5, and a Surface Pro 6 side by side, it’ll be hard to tell them apart. The only visible difference between the three is the matte black finish of the Pro 6. But other than that, they all feature the same 12.3-inch screen, front-firing speakers, and dated ports. They even have the same weight, dimension, and magnesium body with rounded edges. They also have the same kickstand.

Are the Extra Features Worth the Extra Bucks?

The cost of the Surface Pro 6 starts at $899. That’s a hundred-buck increase from the base price of its predecessor. But it should also be noted that the Surface Pro 6 has a better processor and more RAM. The black matte version of the Pro 6 is slightly more expensive than the standard version. It costs about $1,199 with a more loaded 16GB RAM and 512GB storage space.

Perhaps, the matte finish and the extra space are just enough enticements for the additional $200, though you’ll also need to shell out a minimum of $129.99 for a Surface Type Cover. If you don’t have the Type Cover, your Surface Pro is basically just a tablet. For the black Surface Pen, you need to spend an additional $99.

Do You Want to Give It a Try?

Even with the similarities with the previous Surface versions and the extra bucks you need to pay out, the Surface Pro 6 remains to be the best 2-in-1 device you can buy. In terms of tablet-PCs, it’s the king. If you need this kind of device, you can’t do any better than the Microsoft Surface Pro 6. It’s finely constructed and as powerful as a laptop. And if you get the one with a black matte finish, you’ll have a killer-looking device. To top it all off, Microsoft has finally fixed the battery life issues of the Surface range that a lot of users have complained about for years. So, is the Surface Pro 6 a worthy investment? Despite its few disadvantages, if you truly need the device, then yes. The Surface Pro 6 is the best Windows 10 tablet-PC on the market.
