It’s amazing how much space your Android device has. It has the capacity to store images, apps, music, and a whole lot more. It allows you to have your entire life within reach without having to bring your laptop or other bulkier devices with you.

There will come a time, however, that your device’s storage capacity fills up. Especially when you’re confident about the amount of space you have, there’s always a possibility that you’ll be too complacent. Before you know it, your Android device slows down, and you are unable to save anything else.

Don’t worry, there’s so much you can do to free up some space in your device. Experts that sell electronics recommend these steps.

  1. Check your built-in storage tool.

Android devices have a built-in storage tool that shows you which app is taking up so much space. Just go to Settings, then tap Storage. From here, you’ll see a long list of all the apps you use, as well as the amount of storage that their data consumes. Just click on the items that you want to clear up so that you can leave more space for more data in your device.

  1. Install a tool to manage individual files and folders.

You already have your entire storage filled to the brim. Why install another app? Trust us, it’s worth it. A free file manager like Disk Usage can tell you which specific folders and files are using up a lot of space. Remember that your storage tool only shows you app data. If you want a clearer view of specific files actually using up all the space, then better get an additional file manager to be sure. From here, it’s easier to find specific folders eating up too much space that you can delete.

  1. Add a microSD card.

Although the use of microSD cards is fast becoming a thing of the past, you can’t deny the fact that they’re still extremely useful especially for people who store so many files in their devices. The great thing about a lot of Android devices is the fact that they still leave microSD slots. This allows you to have additional space on your device. Just make sure you double check how much additional storage your phone or tablet allows.

  1. Use the cloud.

The cloud still proves to be a great tool for people who need additional storage. By signing up for Dropbox, Google Photos, Microsoft OneDrive and other similar tools, you can start freeing up space on your phone by moving photos to your cloud storage. The great thing about cloud storage is that you can easily access all of your files anytime, so you don’t have to worry about file retrieval.

Indeed, so much can be done when you have more storage on your phone. Start checking out your available storage and consider freeing up some space. You never know. You might find yourself in a situation where you need to take a photo so bad, but your storage space just won’t allow you to do so. Don’t let this happen.
