Apple has launched its latest flagship smartphones – the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus – last September 16. They are possibly the best smartphones made by the company, as claimed by Apple itself. From reviews made by traders who sell iPhones, the new line features a number of upgrades users would enjoy.
On Hardware
The new Apple smartphones look the same as the iPhone 6 and 6s Plus because of their screen dimensions – 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch, respectively. However, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus antenna bands look different now as they have been redesigned to appear sleeker and cleaner.
The phones come in the standard Apple colors (Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold) like their predecessors with the addition of the matte Apple Black, and glossy Jet Black. The 7 and 7 Plus bodies were restructured to hit the IP67 dust-and-water-resistant code.
Expect to see no headphone or earphone jacks as Apple designed the 7 and 7 Plus to work with Bluetooth or Lightning connections only. The latest iPhones are being shipped with Lightning Earpods and a 3.5-mm adapter. For improved audio output, stereo speakers have been placed on top and at the bottom of the phone.
On Software
To keep things together internally, the A10 Fusion processor is in place to achieve 40% faster processing. There are a couple of cores designed specifically for high-performance tasks. The other high-efficiency cores operate with minimal power to hardly impact the battery when doing smaller tasks.
Thanks to these processor upgrades, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus boast of having the best battery life ever. Those looking to upgrade from their iPhone 6s will see their batteries stretched to an average of two more hours. Those upgrading from their iPhone 6s Pus will enjoy one more hour of power.
The Invisible Home Button
With the Solid-State pressure-sensitive button, there is no physical Home button to press. The Solid-State connects to a Taptic Engine that processes and mimics the traditional Home button function. The new iPhone’s display is also 25% brighter, and now detects a wider range of true colors.
Camera Upgrades
Probably one of the main improvements on this new line is the camera system. The iPhone 7 offers a 28mm, 12-MP cam that comes with optical image stabilization. It also features a wide 6-element lens of f/1.8 aperture, image signal processor, and wide-ranging color capture. All these to achieve photos that are brighter and sharper even in mediocre lighting conditions.
The 7 Plus has all the camera features of the iPhone 7, and a lot more. Aside from wide angle lenses, it has the 56-mm telephoto lens that serves as a dual cam with improved optical zoom. Apple is also up for new “shallow depth of field” photo feature, which will allow users to blur the background in future upgrades.
Other improvements include the extra bright 4-LED flash and the 7-MP HD camera for FaceTime, which uses first-hand sensor technology as well as auto image stabilization for clearer images during FaceTime calls and for even better selfie shots.
The price for the iPhone 7 starts at $649 while the price for the iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769.
