Samsung has released the Samsung Galaxy S7, and people are eager to see what Apple will be doing to fire back. Some lowered heads definitely snapped back up when the iPhone SE was released earlier this week, but went right back down again when they found out that it wasn’t the iPhone 7 just yet.
Where’s the iPhone 7? When can we finally try it out?
Well, experts that sell electronics gave us a lowdown on what to expect. Here’s what we know so far:
- Possible release date is September.
Looking at all other releases by Apple, it is safe to say that the iPhone 7 will probably be released in September 2016. After all, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were released on the same month last year.
- Possibly two different versions of the phone will be released.
Again, looking at the ongoing Apple product trend, it is possible that the iPhone 7 will be released in two different variants – the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. One would probably be near the 4.7-inch size, while the other would be a bigger 5.5-inch version of it.
- Could be designed to be more rugged.
Samsung has been releasing water-resistant phones, so it is possible that it’s Apple’s turn to make their phones more rugged. Seeing that Apple has filed a patent for something waterproofing-related, it’s a safe bet that this tech will be used on the iPhone 7.
Another Apple patent that prevents the screen from being smashed when it falls to the ground was also unearthed, so who knows? This could be something that goes into the iPhone 7 as well.
- Better screens.
Rumors have been floating round, saying that Apple has recently been trying out the idea of glass-on- glass screens. This means that there is a possibility of a 4k display. If it doesn’t come to that, there is still a possibility of the iPhone 7 having a QHD screen, seeing that a lot of its Android rivals already have it.
- A thinner look.
They say that the iPhone 7 will be similar to the iPhone 6 and 6s, but thinner and sleeker. This is entirely possible, knowing that Apple already plans to do something different with the antenna bands that run around their most recent releases.
- Possibly a home button-free look.
The recent iPhone releases have shown an increasing dependence on Siri and on the 3D touch screen. What does this mean? Well, for seasoned iPhone users, this means that their home button will soon be pointless. So if this brand of innovation continues, one possibility that you would have to watch out for is a new iPhone without a home button.
On a side note, this would actually be well-aligned with the company’s design principles. After all, Apple has always geared towards clean and simple lines, so removing the button would be a natural move for them.
Of course, most of this are still speculation. But if all these were to be true, then everyone would have to start saving up as early as now, knowing that something big might be coming our way this September.
