2015 was such an exciting year for the tech industry that it made people wonder what else these tech geniuses will think of come 2016. Well, the future is finally here and the opportunities are getting bigger and better.

Here are a few things that you can expect this 2016. Its a mix of old tech that will continue to gain strength and new trends that will be emerging.

Streaming services continue to win over satellite and cable TV.

Local TV channels first took the hit when cable and satellite TV became popular. This year, its their turn to feel the same thing TV networks felt before. Streaming services, after all, are definitely a more practical choice considering how expensive cable and satellite can be. Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Instant  Video all these services just solved the problem that a lot of people have been battling with for years. Now, they can watch almost anything they want without going bankrupt.

The Apple Watch becomes bigger and better, paving the way for more wearables in the market.

Yes, there are a lot of things that the Apple Watch fails to do and fails to do well. But thats okay, because 2016 is definitely going to be the year when Apple finally addresses every flaw that consumers found in this wearable. This will trigger a series of events that would make other companies jump right in and offer even more options for cheaper and more efficient wearables in the market.

Virtual reality finally becomes a viable product.

Both Sony and Oculus have promised to release virtual reality gaming headsets this year, so gamers and tech geeks from all over are definitely salivating over the possibilities that this opens. This is also going to be that giant push that once again puts gaming franchises like Halo, Call of Duty and Madden back into the spotlight. Just think about it. Oculus is owned by Facebook, and everybody around the world is ON Facebook. You can do the math from here.

Financial technology and digital payment options will continue to boom.

What better investment would there be aside from money? In the past year, the world has seen digital payment options becoming more and more widespread, making it extremely convenient to buy products and pay for services anytime, anywhere. Because of this, it is expected that the trend continues throughout this year.

Financial institutions will also be challenged to take on more modern, digital approaches as far as their processes are concerned, so thats also something to watch out for this year. This does not just cover banking institutions, but also tax, business planning, and other related fields as well.

Without a doubt, 2016 will only reveal itself as a bigger and better version of 2015 as far as technology is concerned. As experts who sell electronics expect their profits to rise this year, consumers should also watch out for new products and services that would allow them to do things that they never thought possible in their lifetime.
