Android users can now enjoy an up to 30-million song catalog thanks to Apple Music for Android. App experts who sell iPhones remarked that with this app, Android users can now tune into Beats One, Apples personalized live radio. But most important of all, Android users can now purchase songs from iTunes AND stream the music on their Android devices.
If youre unfamiliar with the app, you may not see the difference between Apple Music and Apple Music for Android. At first glance, the apps are pretty much identical. But once you look closely, you will notice some crucial differences that affect the overall Apple Music experience.
Things You Should Know about Apple Music for Android
1. An Apple ID is required.
To fully use Apple Music for Android, an Apple ID is required. This is not a problem if youve already purchased anything from iTunes because to do so, you would also need an Apple ID. Otherwise, you must create an account to use the music app. You have three options: sign up via the music app, via iTunes on your desktop, or via iCloud.com.
2. There’s a slight difference in terms of design.
The design of Apple Music for Android is patterned from the original iOS app. However, the original had been tweaked to incorporate the traditional Android layout. True to its form, the app for Android includes a hamburger menu. This is where youll find the sections of the app.
3. Musical recommendations are in play.
Similar to the iOS version, the Android app is teeming with song recommendations and user- curated playlists. Its through the My Music page where you can create your own playlist or play the music youve bought on iTunes. Its also possible to download a song or an entire playlist you can play when youre not connected online. Beats One is also available, day in and day out. For the meantime, music videos are still inaccessible. However, Apple has assured users that its a feature coming very soon.
4. Voice control is out of the equation.
The one significant difference between the iOS and Android version is the voice control feature. This feature has a lot more to do with the operating system than the application. With an iPhone or an iPad, Siri is available to follow commands about music selections and such. But because Siri is exclusive to Apple, Android users cant use it for voice control. Siris counterpart, Google Now, wont be able to follow voice commands for the app as well.
5. The Android version is still in beta.
The Apple Music for Android is not quite finished yet. The beta label on it is a big indication of this, so the app may still be festered with several bugs. Although beta reviewers have noted no significant or monumental problem about it other than sluggishness from time to time any user may experience a problem or two about it.
For those who want to try the new Apple Music for Android, the beta version is already available. Download at your own risk.
