If you’re a professional photographer or a serious shutterbug, you know what an inconvenience it is to regularly transfer your photos from your camera to your computer. You need to remove the SD card from your camera, connect it into your PC, and move the multimedia files.
Wouldn’t it be great if you can just wirelessly transfer your photos and videos from one device to another?

Thankfully, experts who sell electronics have shared their expertise on this matter. Read on for tips on how to wirelessly transfer camera files to your PC.

Wi-Fi SD Card

Before anything else, you must find out if you need a Wi-Fi SD card. Though it’s still a relatively unusual feature, few sophisticated digital cameras have a built-in Wi-Fi. You also need to verify if your digital camera has a Wi-Fi SD card support. Typically, if your device has an SDHC memory card support, it also has a Wi-Fi SD card support.

After checking the camera’s SD card and Wi-Fi support, it’s time to buy a Wi-Fi card. Apart from choosing your card’s space capacity, also remember that the speed rating of the card should also be a top consideration.

Wi-Fi Set Up

There are two primary stages of setting up the Wi-Fi process. First is the initialization method that connects the Wi-Fi SD card on your local network. The second phase is to set a field test to make certain that it’s functional.

Wi-Fi Online Configuration

Most of the Wi-Fi card used to transfer photos wirelessly requires an initial configuration for Mac or Windows computer. To configure it online, simply:

• Insert and load your SD card through a reader.

• Go directly to its “root.”

• Choose the sub-directory in line with your computer’s operating system.

• Run the installation file.

During the setup process, you will be prompted to authorize the software to pass through the firewall of your computer.

Choose if you want your multimedia files to be moved to your computer or mobile phone. If you decide on the former:

• Choose “My Computer.”

• Select the SSID of your wireless network.

• Key in its password. Remember, the Wi-Fi card and the receiving computer must be on the same network.

• Select the social media platform you want to share your photos with. You have the option to skip this part for later. Tech experts recommend postponing the setup process of this feature as you need to make tweaks about it later on.

• Follow the prompt for you to eject the card once the installation is finished.

• Insert the card in your camera and then take a photo.

The photo will serve as your test shot. Assuming you followed the instructions of the configuration process correctly, the image will be automatically transferred to your PC.

The most typical reason for transfer errors is the camera’s intense power management. Most digital cameras will instantly save power within seconds of capturing a shot. This tiny window doesn’t provide the SD card sufficient sustained power to complete the transfer through Wi-Fi. To fix this issue, adjust the timeout of the auto-metering of your device.
