Microsoft has redesigned several of its central apps to complement both the aesthetic style and improved performance in Windows 10. This revamp includes the new OneNote.
If you’re currently a user of rival services such as Evernote, most of the functions offered by Microsoft about fast note-taking response will feel familiar to you. But devoted users of the old OneNote app may still require some guidance on navigating the brand new design. It’s important to stress that there are two types of OneNote: one is the standard desktop version which is a part of MS Office, and the other is the new universal application that is an element of Windows 10.
For this article, we’re going to discuss the latter.
Note Creation
OneNote is a default app on the stock edition of Windows 10 (all versions). Provided your Microsoft OS is updated to the latest version, the icon of the OneNote app will automatically show up in your computer’s Start Menu.
If this is the first time that you’ll be using OneNote, a prompt that states that you’re restricted to the Read-Only mode will show up on your computer screen. The limit will be removed when you either enroll in a free trial or acquire a monthly subscription.
Alternatively, if you’re signing in using an MS account instead of a local one, you’ll discover that OneNote for Windows 10 is completely functional without the need to register with any extra expense. Once the account is validated, you’ll be directed to OneNote. From here on, you can start creating and editing your notes.
To create a new “Notebook,” simply click the tab seen on the left-hand menu on your screen. Your Notebook will be automatically renamed based on the account you use to launch the app. You’ll find a limitless option for “Sections” on each Notebook. Each Section can hold an infinite number of “Pages.” To make a new Note, click the plus (+) sign adjacent to the “Recent Notes” category.
Page Management
To get started managing your Pages, think of each page as a whiteboard that can be customized according to your note taking needs. For every page-list, it’s also possible to assign “Subpages”, which will affix a bottom-level page that will serve as component of a Section. Also, each Page
operates on its own specific free space in which any volume of data can be created or edited by you.
While this may sound a bit overwhelming to first-time users, as per experts who sell electronics, once you start using OneNote, you’ll easily get the hang of it. This means a seamless way of note taking, even when handling extensive tasks.
Note Edit
Once you have your Pages established and you’re all set to start making notes, you’ll soon observe that OneNote functions a bit like a scrapbook. This means text, photos, and even sketches can be spliced together in one Note to produce a board of ideas and concepts. Microsoft OneNote is accessible on tablets as well. It’s also compatible with a stylus.
