Those who sell cell phone and other gadgets know that Microsoft devices aren’t exactly in demand. But this may soon end as Microsoft intends to have a minimum of one billion smartphones running on Windoes 10, as well as any app a user wants in three years, regardless of its original plataform.

Finding developers that will create appsfor Windows mobile has been a serious difficulty for Microsoft for several years now. Developers tend to choose to work for iOS and Android where the majority of users, and subsequently the money, live. However, if Microsoft can deliver and make a successful plan, that hurdle may finally break down.

This plan was revealed in the recently-concluded Microsoft Build 2015 Conference. The plan includes one long overdue yet smart twist. Microsoft is going to provide the resourses essential for developers to port their active apps from the two major platforms, iOS and Android, to the Universal Windows Platform.

Universal Windows Platform

The crucial element of this plan is the Universal Windows Platform. This is the component which enables developers to code just once and have their application worj and display correctly on any gadget that has Windows 10 as an operating system. With the use of Visual Studio tools, programmers can develop apps for computers, tablets ans smartphones. They can also create apps for HoloLens , Xbox, Surface Hub as well as Rspberry Pi.

But that’s not only the good news. Microsoft also announced resourses and tools that will allow developers to port their existing apps on iOS and Android for the Windows 10 as an operating system. With the use of Visual Studio tools, programmers can develop apps for computers, tablets, and smartphones. They can also create apps for HoloLens,Xbox, Surface Hub as well as Raspberry Pi.

But that’s not only the good news. Microsoft also ammounced resourses and tools that will allow developers to port their existing apps on iOS and Android for the Windows 10 OS with just minimal coding. For active Android application developers and apps, there is a new runtime available. It’s called the project Astoria. These resourses allow developers to code for Windows 10 mobile with the use of their familiar Android OS IDE. In addition. Project Islandwood gives active iOS developers the capability to code for Windows gadgets by importing Xcode straight into Visual Studio, in which the current code will be expanded to incorporate Universal Windows Platform features.

These resourses, together with other tools made to make an app demonstration on the Microsoft Store simpler to achieve and far more consistent across all devices, will tmemendously help Microsoft grown its database of mobile apps on the market. If more apps are accessible for Windows 10 users, then the perception that there is a lack of Microsoft mobile apps will cease to exist.

The New Microsoft Mobile

Microsoft has said that owning solid hardware, like the Lumia smartphone, is not enough. Users, regardless of the mobile platform, want the applications they need and enjoy. The future on the company is now riding on the successof this code-porting strategy.

With the option of project Islandwood and Project Astoria , developers are now able to port their applications to the windows 10 platform quite quite easily and with hardly any extra work. What this means is more paying users for the developers and more earnings for Microsoft. A definite, albeit rare, win-win situation for Microsoft mobile devices.
