This summer 25 solar stations will allow to the inhabitants of New York to recharge(overload) the mobile phone in the street. Distributed by diverse points of the city, the stations include a small salver where to leave the phone and Micro connectors USB, dock of 30 pines (for the ancient iPhone) and port Lightning (iPhone 5, iPad Mini and iPad 4th generation).
The Pensa Studio has designed them and they will be sponsored by the operator AT&T This is a pilot project that could later expand into new neighborhoods and new stations. Although these stations have been specially designed for the project we have a model that can be anchored to the poles of traffic signs and parking in the city.
The solar panels can recharge the batteries inside of the station even on cloudy days and in 30 minutes are able to recharge up to 30% of the battery of a mobile phone, approximately.
