Windows Phone overtakes Blackberry in Europe

According to Kantar Worldpanel Microsoft operating system is still far from being a threat to iOS or Android but grows in the old continent and Blackberry has already advanced to the second half of 2012. In some countries growth has been spectacular.

This is the case of Italy, for example. A year ago the market share of Windows Phone was 2.8%. Now is 13.9%. UK also grew significantly, from 2.2% to 5.9%. Spain is another country that looks kindly on Windows. Has risen from 0.4% to 1.4% of the market.

Android is still the platform to beat, especially in Spain. Now it has a market share of 86.4% while the iPhone has lost almost 1.8 percentiles and only represents 6% of the market. In Europe, however, Apple’s share remained stable at 25%.

Kantar also believed that one third of the phones sold in these dates were purchased as Christmas gifts. Is the best selling? Interestingly a terminal Blackberry, the 9320, followed by the Galaxy Ace 2 and iPhone 4S
